We ask comparatively reasonable rates for our work (both Photography  and  Entertainment   DJ), commensurate with each of our abilities and experience within the photographic industry.  I don't believe it over-charging our clients simply because the Wedding industry has made people believe "That's just what Weddings cost".  In these  difficult economic times, we always do  what we  can   to accommodate all  Wedding  budgets.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS A DJ?
In 1992 I pursued an interest in being a club DJ at a few clubs in Boston and Providence RI. I answered an ad to be a part-time Club DJ, working clubs in Boson, Newport and Providence. Within about a year to 18 months or so, I began doing Weddings again, but this time as a DJ instead of a photographer. It was no doubt a strange turn of events how I would end up back doing Weddings again, but there I was. Now more than 17 years later I love working each Wedding, whether as a DJ or a Photographer.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS A PHOTOGRAPHER?
Basically, my father had a photographic hobby when I was a kid, and I was in awe of this black device that could capture a moment in time, telling a story of a person's life. I remember I loved that sound of winding the film manually, the clunky shutter feel and sound, thinking as an early teenager how cool it would be to be a photographer as a profession. So, when my father wanted to upgrade his equipment, I asked him if I could purchase his old equipment.

It was 1984, I bought his Minolta X-700 with a variety of lenses and flash equipment. That was the start, now, over 25 years later I'm still shooting and loving it more with each moment captured..! Over time I transitioned from nudes and landscapes, into and through gallery / art work, exhibitions, product, portrait, architectural, post-production, then ultimately back into Wedding and art work. I have honestly shot nearly every type of photographic work, but Weddings are definitely my passion.

I SEE OTHER ARTISTS ON YOUR WEBSITE - ARE YOU AN AGENCY?
So - I'm really not an agency.. I consider myself 95% artist and about 5% businessman. Between 1992 and 2002 I was forced to pass up like 150 to 250 Weddings each year simply because I was already contracted on most weekend dates each year. I then thought, if I wanted to maximize my family income, I'd have to hire others to replicate what I do and contract them at the Weddings I was unavailable to be contracted for.

I contemplated things for a few Wedding seasons.. ..It was scary to me to trust someone to do things exactly as I do, representing my name and reputation. But in 2005 it really was partially Lindsey's suggestion, definitely her inspiration that it would be possible. Now - I have an amazing team of professionals who I fully trust to represent my work and my name as if I was working each of our client's Weddings. Of course I stay highly involved in all their Event planning, editing, and album designs, but they are all very talented and capable within each of their professions.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL TRAINING AS A DJ?
In the Summer 2002, I graduated Connecticut School of Broadcasting, having attended with the intention of better developing my skills in broadcast and entertainment technique. In Winter of 2003, I finished an extended internship at WBZ News Radio AM1030 in Boston, further adding to my experience in broadcasting. Both of those experiences have proven to be extremely educational, fantastic , and most memorable working among some of this country's best radio and TV personalities.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?
Well, basically - I've been told the following before and consider this the highest compliment: Client's would email or call me after their Wedding and express to me that their guests wanted to know why they didn't hire a photographer for the Wedding..!

I do my best to capture the true moments of your Event, while keeping the guests in their natural element. I find this is achieved by not interrupting your guests all day long, asking everyone to stop, turn, and smile into my camera. What is that anyway..! That photo has now become a representation of that person as they want to be perceived by others, it's not their true self. Their true self can be captured while laughing with friends, wiping tears of happiness during the Ceremony, or just a loving glance to a fiance or husband / wife. Of course formal photographs are necessary at each Wedding, but the real Wedding is going on simultaneously all around me during that time.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR GENERAL DJ STYLE?
Similar to my photographic style, I (and my other DJs) are very low key. We are not the line dance instructors, we don't sing, we don't ask your guests to dance - The music should motivate your guests on it's own if the songs and sequence is right.

Generally, I do not specialize in any one genre of music. I try to play to my crowd, play to my bridal clients guidelines who have hired me. My library is vast and always growing. I do not take breaks where the music will cease, and I do not bring props or any light kits. Lastly - 'REQUEST LISTS' and 'DO NOT PLAY' lists are always welcomed - These are valuable DJ tools.

HOW HAS YOUR DJ STYLE TAKEN SHAPE OVER THE YEARS?
I am still as reserved as when I started behind the microphone, but it is derived from my sense of respect and honor of the Wedding couple, and their enjoyment of being the center of attraction on their Wedding day, rather than my introversion.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO ?
• In my spare time I am an avid cyclist, training and racing Triathlon and Time Trials
• Dabble a little with the bass guitar
• I was a Certified Spinning® Instructor - Formerly taught classes at Boston Sports Clubs for 4 years
• Love hanging out with my wife and family, enjoying every moment while my kids are young.

WHAT OTHER INDUSTRIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY HAVE YOU WORKED WITHIN?
In the mid-90's I spent around 7 to 8 years as an Architectural photographer. Since then I've worked here and there in the fields of Magazine, Portraits, Product, Industrial, Commercial, all the while shooting Weddings and Artwork for gallery and art exhibits throughout Detroit, Cape Cod and New England.
