HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS A DJ..?
In 2007 I hired dave to be the DJ at my wedding, and was very much impressed
with his ability. Throughout the process we became good friends, and
our love of music brought us to the topic of DJ entertainment. I expressed
an interest in becoming a DJ as it seemed to compliment my work as
a trial attorney and professional musician. Dave also thought it would
be a natural fit, and as they say….the rest is history.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY SUMMARIZES YOUR DJ STYLE..?
Like Lindsey, having been trained by dave, and having just experienced
what it is like while looking for the right DJ, I fully intend to keep
my presence at your event as low-key as possible, while keeping guests
lively, informed and musically entertained all evening..! Through all
points of your day.. (CT and Reception..).
My DJ style is very similar to dave and Lindsey's, whereby I do not
wish to make myself the 'star' or 'entertainer' of your special day.
I do intend on providing a memorable evening of dance and great music,
while keeping things professional, elegant, and fun.
WHY BECOME A DJ..?
As I am getting older now, it seems all of us in the band are becoming
more an more busy, and unable to perform as we love to do, and once
were intently focused on doing. Priorities and families take over,
and I find myself now looking for that creative outlet that I once
had. Being a DJ at these events where we are fortunate to attend is
the perfect way for me to regain that 'high' of seeing everone have
such a great time, and know I had a direct influence toward that emotion.
Honestly, it's as much if not more fun as performing live for a concert
with the band.. I love it.
Again, like dave and Lindsey - My top priority is to create an elegant,
refined atmosphere, without producing a stuffy, or obviously structured
evening. I would not have it any other way..
DOES YOUR WORK AS AN ATTORNEY or BAND MEMBER TRANSLATE SOMEHOW INTO
YOUR DJ WORK..?
Yes - I believe so in the following ways..:
LAW -
• Psychology - Understanding the psychology of people and their motivations
is very important
• Very professional in appearance, attitude, and work ethic
• Preparation is the key to success in the courtroom, as well at each
Wedding
• Oral presentation skills are already learned and at ease
MUSICIAN -
• Knowledge of musical equipment from the band events
• Understand musical theory and it's effect on the mood of individuals
• Knowledge of musical styles and proper mixing (inter-mixing) of songs
• Not easily flustered or intimidated in front of large crowds |
